Situated on the edge of Heacham, just 5 minutes drive from Caley Hall, Norfolk Lavender provides a great day for all the family.
The main attraction offers guided tours, a garden centre and gift shops selling traditional lavender products as well as lots of other gifts. The on-site farm shop and butchers are also a delight offering locally sourced, fresh produce at great prices.
The animal gardens have become well-established over the last few years with an exciting mix of rare breed animals. More recently a critters cabin has been added with tarantulas, snails and snakes to name a few.
The well-equipped play area is great for children with a zip wire, sandpit, swings, slide and tractors and the maze is growing beautifully. This is my children’s favourite part, they love running to the centre as quickly as they can, collecting their stamps on the way (pick up a stamp card when you arrive, fill it up and collect a surprise at the end) and then collecting more stamps up their arms on the way out! We normally end up with a display of hedgehogs, worms and butterfly’s to scrub off when we get home. During the school holidays, lots of arty and craft activities take place in the barn and children can even enter the rabbit ranch for a spot of friendly rabbit cuddling.
It’s a great spot for a picnic, but if you fancy treating yourself then pop into the Lavender Lounge for a real treat. They serve everything from breakfast to cream teas, I’d recommend a cheese scone – they are the best I’ve tasted!
Also on site is Farmer Fred’s playbarn, an indoor adventure play area suitable for children aged 0-12. They have comfy seating for adults and serve delicious food so if you need a rest this is the place to visit.
