The Caley Mail

Summer has come and passed, the innocent can never lastÖ.

August happened.

Itís been and gone in a crazy blur already and the school holidays are almost over (Until October). For some this would ring in the end of the season but for us itís barely the beginning.

Before I reiterate on this however letís spare a thought for parents of children still in education who will imminently  face different battles in preparation for Wednesday when most schools reopen. Some will have to face the eternal struggle of waking a teenager up in time to catch the bus after 7 weeks of barely seeing them leave their room. For others like me whose children are still young enough to be blissfully unaware of the concept of a lie in that will not be the issue. Instead it is trying to explain that, Yes, it was just a holiday and no they havenít yet learnt enough to have finished education forever at the age of 6.

I am fully expecting a morning of tears, tantrums and being called all kinds of horrible things that are probably only 80% accurate. I am ready to deal with having to dig out the uniform at the last minute and force it over their heads and arms whilst simultaneously searching for the smart shoes which fell down the back of some piece of furniture at the end of July and preparing a healthy packed lunch whilst Iím at it.

I am ready for all of this but I will admit that I do often wonder why I married a teacher!!

So, back to us anyway. What does September bring to Hunstanton & Caley Hall? It brings us many familiar faces who loyally return to us every September and have done for an incredible amount of years. We know their names, their favourite room, mealtimes & table numbers. We know that they are the very core of our business and thank them for their returned custom.

In Hunstanton itself there is still plenty to see and do including the Folk festival on the 16th and a Soap box derby on the 17th which I may have to go and watch myself as they are always great fun.

Also on the horizon at the very end of September, the 30th to be precise, we welcome back the team from McAbra mysteries for our annual Murder Mystery Dinner evening and with more bookings already than previous years we are expecting our best year yet. There are still a few spaces left so check out our website for more details.

Our website is also a good place to visit for any other special offers and last minute deals so bookmark us and check in whenever it starts to feel like you need a break.
